Local health departments are often called to respond to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) emergencies in their communities, so they need the appropriate tools to prepare and respond in a timely manner. Recent WASH emergencies have demonstrated the importance of preparedness, and these examples can be used as learning opportunities to prepare water utility companies, public health departments, and emergency managers for future water emergencies.
This compendium of case stories demonstrate local health department efforts to prepare for and respond to complex water emergencies in their communities. The compendium features the City of Milwaukee Health Department, WI; Washington County Public Health, OR; and Public Health – Seattle and King County, WA
