This case study examines Kern County’s Food Facility Grading Ordinance. To better understand the grading ordinance, NACCHO interviewed representatives from the Environmental Health Division of the Kern County Public HealthServices Department, the County Board of Supervisors, and the Kern County restaurant industry. The industry representative served as a member of the restaurant advisory group that provides guidance on the evaluation of the foodscoring and grading system.
