Local health departments across the nation are working across jurisdictional boundaries to share resources and services. Cross-jurisdictional sharing can help address community needs and serve different purposes. Potential benefits include more efficient and effective public health services, collective capacity, reduced expenditures, and increased productivity. This research brief used data collected in NACCHO's 2013 National Profile of Local Health Departments (Profile) study to examine the degree and types of cross-jurisdictional sharing among local health departments and compared the results with findings from the 2010 Profile study.
