Current preparedness planning for nuclear power plants focuses on the 10-mile emergency planning zone (EPZ) surrounding each plant. This research brief highlights the perceived risk radiation poses on jurisdictions, the level of planning jurisdictions have accomplished for radiological emergencies, and LHD capabilities to respond.
