This report describes how 13 local health departments perceive the state of environmental public health tracking. NACCHO conducted key informant interviews to understand how the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network and tracking grantees could better serve local health departments. Key findings include the local health departments' appreciation of how tracking programs standardize data, provide points of comparison, and link health outcome with hazards data. A key barrier that prevents local health departments from fully engaging in tracking resources is the lack of localized data that provide insight to geographic units smaller than the county level.
